RM Auctions Lot 170 Facel Vega HK500
The Facel Vega HK500 at RM Auctions in Paris sold for exactly its low estimate: €120,000 on Wednesday evening. This was a good looking car but it came up at 22.21 in the evening, the third last lot of the auction and in just one minute, rose from €60,000 to a maximum of €120,000. The reserve was €120,000 – €160,000 but it made it no further than that low estimate: €120,000. This equates to £91,603 and is very much in line with the most recent RHD model sold in the UK – although it should be said that the LHD versions usually sell for more, which would therefore suggest that this was a pretty good deal.
That looks a great car at a very sensible price. Perhaps Facel prices are getting sensible once more. There is still the 15/20% premium to add to the final price which takes it over the £100,000 magic number. The euro rate at present helps as well. There are a lot of very nice cars coming up this week. One or two I am quite excited about.
